Hello! My name is Dené and I an Anishinaabe woman living and working in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on Treaty 1 Territory.
I have spent the past…
18 years working in communications and marketing in the sports, major events, travel & tourism industries.
In my work…
I want to find ways to improve communication, get to know my neighbours and make our communities better. I have traveled the world to tell people about our home and believe that we all are better by lifting each other up. I will talk more, to believe more, to trust more.
I am most recently proud of….
completing my Masters of Arts of Interdisciplinary Studies from Royal Roads University (as of December 2018). My studies focused on Intercultural Communication, Tourism and Indigenous Studies, exploring connections between tourism, an industry with extractive and exploitive practices towards Indigenous people, and the ongoing reclamation of our own story, language, land and place by Indigenous peoples in Canada.
I will always be learning. One grain of sand at a time on a beach full of knowledge.
Today I…
work as a consultant on projects that inspire and excite me. I have experience working with Indigenous communities, entrepreneurs and small businesses on development plans for tourism and event planning.
Miigwech for taking the time to learn a little more about me and my work on the following pages.
